There is an energy transition underway. Most would describe the transformation as a shift away from carbon-based fuels to renewable energy and they would be right–in part. Another part of the breakthrough would be distributed energy storage–the ability to retain small or large amounts of energy produced where you live or work. Customers can become producers and buy or sell power to the grid when they choose. Energy storage is a game changer for the electric system as it enables much higher penetrations of renewable energy and supports the grid more broadly.
